The pricing trap
Too high = no views. Too low = easy sale but zero margin. The sweet spot: 5-10% below the median market price.
5-step method
1. Look up similar sold items
On Vinted, search by brand + model + size. Filter "sold". Note 5-10 real sale prices.
2. Calculate the median
Not the mean (biased). The median = middle of the distribution. More representative of the market.
3. Adjust for your condition
New with tags: median +10%. Very good condition: median. Good condition: median -10%. Satisfactory: median -25%.
4. Factor in Vinted fees
Vinted buyer protection (~5%) + service fee. If you want $20 net, list at $22.
5. Leave room to negotiate
Buyers negotiate. Add +10% on top of your target price to absorb the drop.
Advanced strategies
Loss leader
Hero item at -30% to drive traffic to your profile. Sell other items at full margin.
Bundles
Multiple items together = discount. "Bundle 5 Zara dresses size S = $30" rather than 5x$6.
Vinted Boost
Paid boost ~$1-3 to push you up to the top of results. See Boost guide.
When to drop the price
0 favorites after 7 days = too expensive or not appealing. 10+ favorites with no purchase = too expensive (cut -15%). Lots of views, no sale = revisit photos before price.
